His primary research interest is statistical inference for dependent data and incomplete data. Topics include covariance matrix estimation, nonparametric statistics, model misspecification, multiple imputation, multi-phase inference, computational statistics, etc.

He is interested in statistical modeling and computing (including Bayesian inference, Monte Carlo method, Markov chain, hierarchical model, model selection), computational biology / bioinformatics (including comparative genomics, motif discovery, gene regulatory network, genetics, cell cycle, microarray data analysis, meta-analysis), and pattern recognition & classification methods.
