Computing Facilities

The Department of Statistics offers state-of-the-art computing facilities for teaching and research purposes, overseen by the Statistical Laboratory Management Committee.

  • PC Facilities:
    • Two Statistical/Risk Management Science Computer Laboratories house 114 PCs for undergraduate and postgraduate student use.
    • Each postgraduate student is equipped with an All-In-One desktop PC featuring an Intel Core i7 CPU and 64 GB of main memory.
    • Four Bloomberg terminals are accessible for student and staff use.
    • All PCs run on Microsoft Windows 11/10 Enterprise Edition and come pre-installed with common applications like Microsoft 365/Office 2016 Professional Plus, MATLAB, R, SAS and IBM SPSS Statistics. Printing services are available on each PC.
  • High-Performance Computing (HPC) Cluster:
    • The department offers HPC services for faculty and students requiring intensive computations, supported by a high-performance Linux cluster. The cluster is utilized for solving intricate computational problems and supports big data research activities in fields like genomic, bio-informatics and so on.
