(I) Lecturer

Applicants should have (i) a relevant higher degree (at least at MPhil level); and (ii) a proven track record in teaching statistics or closely related areas.

The appointee will (i) teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the areas of statistics and risk management; and (ii) assist in the administration of the Department.  

Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for up to two years commencing as soon as possible and renewable subject to performance and mutual agreement.

(II) Research Assistant Professors

Applications and nominations are invited for research faculty posts at Assistant Professor level in the Department of Statistics at The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Applicants should have (i) a PhD degree in statistics or a related field; and (ii) high-quality research outputs in all areas of statistics.

The appointees will (a) participate in independent and joint research programmes; (b) apply for external research grants; (c) teach course(s) at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels; (d) provide service at departmental, faculty and/or university levels.

Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for up to three years commencing as soon as possible, renewable subject to performance and mutual agreement.

The appointment rank will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.

Applicants should have (i) a Ph.D. degree in statistics or a related field; and (ii) high-quality research output and a strong teaching track record in all areas of statistics and Risk Management Science.

Appointment will normally be made on contract basis for up to three years initially commencing August 2020, which, subject to mutual agreement, may lead to longer-term appointment or substantiation later. Outstanding candidates with substantial experience for Professor rank may be considered for substantive appointment forthwith.

(IV) Project Co-ordinator II

The appointee will assist in (a) co-ordination of undergraduate and/or postgraduate programmes (such as admission, course registration, students’ enquires handling, etc.); (b) project and event co-ordination, including organisation of conferences and workshops; (c) general office administration; and (d) other departmental tasks as assigned (such as reimbursement and visitors’ co-ordination, etc.). The appointee may be required to work on weekends and beyond normal office hours in the event of operational needs.

Applicants should have (i) a Bachelor’s degree; (ii) good interpersonal skills and the ability to work with professionals from all disciplines; (iii) a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese; (iv) the ability to work independently; and (v) excellent computer skills.

Appointment will initially be made on a 1-year contract, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
